White coat ceremony

Last Saturday Ed received his white coat. The white coat ceremony is a relatively new tradition (in that the student receives it prior to graduation). During this tradition the school welcomes 1st-year students as colleagues dedicated to patient care. During this event, faculty present 1st year students with a white coat, the symbol of clinical service and care. The students take, in unison, a pledge of professionalism. Ed is lucky to have 2 of his good friends that he grew up with at Midwestern with him.

Steve, Ed, and Lou after the ceremony.

Ed's parents drove down for the ceremony as well...

Receiving his white coat...

I'm so proud of Ed and the commitment he has to medicine. He is truely an inspiration.
